Question about my layout [14 Oct 2009|12:56pm]

Hey. I am using this layout: http://missdenaley.livejournal.com/16555.html
Does anyone know how I can make the post boxes (white space for my posts) flexible? I mean, I can only upload in my posts images about 500px, but it would be wonderful to upload big images so they will be in boxes?

What I get:

How I want it to be:

Hope that somebody know's how I can fix this..

Layout help [30 Jun 2009|12:29pm]

Hi all - first post here, I'm hoping someone can help me because I've kind of hit a wall.

I just changed my layout to the one listed here: http://community.livejournal.com/mentahelada/10647.html. I followed the directions smoothly enough, including changing the header to one of my own choosing, as you can see if you go to my own journal.  However, when I plugged in the code the way the directions said, the top of my journal (the header with info, friends page, etc) seems to be off. I have no idea why this happened, especially since I didn't change the coding at all and by all accounts nothing should be causing this much of a problem. I tried playing around with the coding and have seen no change.

Also, if anyone can help me figure out how to change the sidebars (example, changing where it says "recent entries, etc" to a bio, links, etc...I'd be much appreciated. I seem to have hit a wall in that area, too, and no matter what codes I plug in nothing works.

I tried commenting on the layout maker's post, and haven't gotten a response. If anyone can offer insight, I'd appreciate it very much as I'm a little sick of my journal looking unkempt!

Help - Layout Code Problems [12 May 2009|04:40pm]

Hey, sorry if this is an inappropriate post but I am really in need of some help.  I've been trying to start a Smallville LJ RP, and the important aspects of design are all done and dusted.  Sadly though, the layout code I found and used seems to have two errors I'd like fixing.  I have tried contacting the layout code creator but she did not respond to me so hopefully someone here will be able to help.

Here is the LJ in question - community.livejournal.com/jlalegacyrpg/

As you can see in the post titled "BAD TAG SPACING EXAMPLE" the tags field is overlapped by the "leave a comment" link, so you can barely see the latter.  It would be better if the "leave comment" link was situated on a higher, seperate line to the tags field.

The second and only remaining problem is that the "friends" page has an error which causes two problems.  For starters, the posts here do not show up with rounded corners at the bottom left, as they should and do in other pages, and furthermore the corner image is displaced by itself at the bottom of the screen.

If anyone thinks they can help at all, please let me know, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

- Jaxon

Layout help - again [13 Apr 2009|01:27am]
Hello again.

Firstly, thanks for the reply to my first post. I managed to get the overrides working. Now I'm encountering new problems, though.

I'm doing a layout to a friend of mine (with plus account, like mine). It should have two sidebar images and one header image and a background gradient. It's easy to put the background but the sidebars and header are a problem. Basically, it should look somewhat like this: http://img26.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ljlayoutkojiakanefade.jpg
I've also made a different version, a bit wider, like this: http://img26.imageshack.us/my.php?image=layoutkojiakanealternat.gif

Now, as you may see from my page, where I've been testing it (http://zeshoopuf.livejournal.com/), it looks quite stupid at the moment. It's because I just have the whole image as a background because I don't know what else to do. Now, this is where my help request comes: could someone tell me or direct me to a easy-to-understand tutorial on how to make the text fit into the gradient box and make the header and sidebars, well, header and sidebars? Pretty please? I'm seriously stuck with this. I've tried to modify ready-made layouts but with my CSS understanding, it's just not working.

Or, if someone is kind and awesome enough to actually make the layout for me (I can provide you with sliced-up images and stuff like that), I'd be very, very grateful. Of course, in this case, the maker would be credited.

Thank you to anyone who can help me.

Layout help [02 Apr 2009|03:11pm]

I am doing a LJ layout but I'm having problems putting it on. My account type is plus account, apparently. I am doing the layout for a free account (I'm not sure if these are same thing).

Now, as far as I've understood I should put the overrides into the "Custom Style Sheet" box in "Customize journal". I have tried putting on a simple background image or colour, for example just putting a red background colour (using the global head, style, body etc tags - I tried pasting the code here with the LJ Cut Code, but it doesn't show). The code should be correct, since I pasted it from a tutorial.

But my journal remains unaffected. Is there something else I need to do, except writing the overrides in the Custom Style Sheet box? Or should I write them somewhere else? I have tried reading through different tutorials but none of them have been able to help me with this since they mostly just explain different overrides.

Also, I would like to know if it's possible for a free user to make a layout with a header image, two sidebar images and a background image (simple gradient). For reference, it looks like this (blue blocks are images): http://img10.imageshack.us/my.php?image=layoutjzf.jpg
The text would come into the gradient part.

Now, I hope I put this in the right place, please correct me if I didn't.

Thank you.

[18 Mar 2009|02:41pm]

So yesterday I fiddled around with my custom css sheet alot and changed all kinds of margins and paddings all over the place. Some for the better...others not so much.

Now my problem is that I changed some padding number somewhere and now the entries on my LJ and flist are crammed into eachother. Looks like a multiple carcrash. Example here.

If anyone could tell me where I need to fiddle with the codes for putting more space between the entries I'd be ever so grateful. Thank you.

How do you make your journal look like each entry, has a link? I want so that, you can click on a link in each entry, and then see the pictures for each category.. Not, the way mine is where you just scroll through all the pictures at once!!

How to edit an existing style? [26 Nov 2008|11:43am]

Greetings, all. I may have overlooked the answer to this question in a FAQ; if so, kindly please point me thereto.

I recently (finally) switched to S2, and I am using the "Black and white and red all over" variant of Flexible Squares. This layout meets almost all my needs, but the red date-and-time text is hard to read on the red header bars, and the red header bars themselves are pretty aggressive to the eye. I'd just like to change the header bars' colour to dark green or something, but I can't seem to figure out how to do so. Could somebody please offer some guidance?

userpics in my own individual entries on my journal page [24 Oct 2008|05:28pm]

[ mood | confused ]

Userpics accompany my entries when viewed on a friend's "friends page," and userpics accompany friends' entries on my own "friends page" but I would like for my own journal page to show the userpics accompanying the individual entries. (I've seen journals like this, so I know there's a way to do it!) I'm in S1 style and really don't want to switch over to S2 cuz I'm not very computer savvy and don't want to change from what I know. Please help me!
